Abstract

Colombia is one of the few States in the world that enjoys the geographic privilege of having direct access to two oceans, the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, located in the north west corner of South America; the natural and geostrategic condition is exceptional when providing large maritime spaces due to the coastal condition that in turn generate comparative advantages, which hold such richness, that it requires much more study and research in the different fields of science, which allow it to explore and exploit this neat condition to enhance development of the maritime sectors of the country. This research article aims to highlight the analysis and results obtained on those institutions of higher education, military institutions and those that are working together with the State and the Military Forces to promote the participation of education and research on the seas of Colombia, providing the relevant analysis of each of its lines of research, academic programs and equipment for that purpose.
