The Russian Federation, being the most extensive State in the whole planet, has considered throughout its history national security as one of its most important pillars of domestic and foreign policy. Its splendid territory, which extends over two continents, has been the object of study by Russian academics and rulers. Particularly, the national security of Russia commits not only the defense of its borders and its sovereignty, but the protection of its population, its identity, its territory. The identification of their threats allows us to study the different dynamics and relationships that this country has shared with other States of the region and international organizations, such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which in recent years has been seen as an agent that can jeopardize the security of the nation, which through military projects and infrastructure could compromise the legitimate national interests of Russia, which go against international
law.
