Permanent call for papers

Welcome to the site of the journal Estudios en Seguridad y Defensa, ISSN: 1900-8325 / e-ISSN: 2744-8932. The journal Estudios en Seguridad y Defensa is a publication open to the discussion and dissemination of theoretical works and practical research in the area of ​​security and defense. The journal constantly interacts with academic, national and international institutions, which see in our publication the possibility of disseminating the results of the projects and activities developed by their research teams. Likewise, it has positioned itself as an obligatory reference for those who want to delve into matters of national and international interest of a political and military nature.

The journal Estudios en Seguridad y Defensa in its objective of consolidating scientific and academic quality, receives, evaluates and publishes articles in three (03) categories, as defined by Colciencias (2013):

1.  Original scientific article: Complete document that presents in detail the original results, derived from research and / or technological development projects. Generally, it presents in its structure the following parts: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods and Tools, Results, Discussion, Conclusions and References.

2. Reflection article: Original document that presents research results from an analytical, interpretive and critical perspective of the author, on a specific topic, using original sources. Generally, it presents in its structure the following parts: Title, Summary, Keywords, Introduction, Methods and Tools, Results, Discussion, Conclusions and References. 

3. Review article: Research result document in which the results of published or unpublished research on a field in science or technology are reviewed, organized, analyzed and integrated, in order to account for the advances and trends of Generally, presents in its structure the following parts: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods and Tools, Results, Discussion, Conclusions and References.

The Revista Científica Estudios en Seguridad y Defensa has three sections that organize the issue, the names of these are symbols that refer to being and doing military:

  • Insignias: the insignia are the elements that mark the military ranks on the uniform, thus marking a guide. This section contains the articles that guide the issue, which refer to a central theme.
  • Laureles: the laurel wreath is the symbol of victory and military glory, an important part of which is achieved through knowledge. For this reason, this section contains open-topic articles relevant to the area of ​​Security and Defense.
  • Pabellones: the pavilions distinguish the different units of reflection. In this section you will find a series of additional content such as reviews, notes, disputes and bibliographic essays, among others.

All articles published in the journal must be original or unpublished and must not be submitted for simultaneous publication in other journals or editorial bodies. 

The thesis and ideas presented in the articles are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the thoughts of the General Command of the Military Forces, or the Escuela Superior de Guerra "General Rafael Reyes Prieto".

About the Journal

Published biannually, it is a publication open to the discussion and dissemination of theoretical works and research on policies, models, approaches, security and defense perspectives of different disciplines such as political science, international relations, among others. Its purpose is to constantly interact with academic institutions and national and international research centers, which see in the publication the possibility of disseminating the results of the projects and activities developed.
